DIRECTV Climbs on Possible AT&T Acquisition; Weight Watchers Blows Past Q1 Expectations

Shares of DTV closed up 4.07% on Thursday with around 9.6 million shares traded. The company even hit a new yearly high of $82.75 during intra-day trading. The gains came after it was reported that AT&T may be interested in buying DIRECTV.

Shares of Weight Watchers International closed up nearly 20% on about 8 million shares traded. The stock was one of the biggest gainers on the NYSE. The company posted better-than-expected earnings in its first quarter. The company earned 31 cents a share over the three months to March, 22 cents higher than analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters forecast.

Shares of Capstone Turbine Corp closed down 13.59% on about 17.6 million shares traded. The stock was one of the biggest decliners on the NASDAQ. The drop came after the company announced a secondary stock offering of just under 18.83 million shares.  The company hasentered into an underwriting agreement to sell its common stock at $1.70 a share, amassing gross proceeds of around $32 million and net proceeds of approximately $30.2 million.

Shares of APPZ closed up 31.58% on about 44 million shares traded on Thursday. The stock was one of the biggest gainers in the OTCBB market. The company announced the formation of a new corporate subsidiary entity, Candor Homes Corporation, a Nevada corporation, which will focus on “Greener” and more "technologically advanced" new home construction and sales.
