Wall Street Fundamentals Releases New In-Depth Stock Reports on ED, HCP, NLY and WMT

Low interest rates have increased the appeal of dividend-paying stocks amongst investors in 2014. The iShares Select Dividend ETF (NYSEARCA: DVY) is up 2.63 percent year-to-date, compared to a loss of 0.99 percent for the Dow. "We're giving more weight to dividends just because we don't really see the engines of [economic] growth there," said Scott Armiger, chief investment officer of Christiana Trust, a division of WSFS Bank, "A sustainable dividend puts a floor under the price of the stock." 10-year Treasury notes currently offer a yield of approximately 2.73 percent, which is down from 3.0 percent at the beginning of 2014. Here is how some dividend yielding stocks reacted Friday:

Consolidated Edison, Inc. (NYSE: ED) shares traded in the range of $53.75 to $54.72 Friday before settling to close at $54.36, an increase of 1.30 percent. The stock appears to be facing some resistance at the $54.38 and $54.93 levels with some support at $53.99 and $53.75. The company currently offers an annual dividend of $2.52 for a yield of roughly 4.64 percent. Shares of Consolidated Edison have fallen approximately 2.0 percent year-to-date.

HCP, Inc. (NYSE: HCP) shares traded in the range of $38.96 to $39.67 Friday before settling to close at $39.47, an increase of 1.18 percent. The stock appears to be facing some resistance at the $40.33 and $43.12 levels with some support at $39.36 and $38.89. The company currently offers an annual dividend of $2.18 for a yield of roughly 5.52 percent. Shares of HCP have gained approximately 8.0 percent year-to-date.

Annaly Capital Management, Inc. (NYSE: NLY) shares traded in the range of $10.89 to $11.07 Friday before settling to close at $11.04, an increase of 1.75 percent. The stock appears to be facing some resistance at the $11.10 and $11.48 levels with some support at $10.74 and $10.38. The company currently offers an annual dividend of $1.20 for a yield of roughly 10.87percent. Shares of Annaly Capital Management have gained approximately 10.0 percent year-to-date.

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT) shares traded in the range of $77.25 to $77.90 Friday before settling to close at $77.31, a decrease of 0.19 percent. The stock appears to be facing some resistance at the $77.52 and $78.91 levels with some support at $77.18 and $76.80. The company currently offers an annual dividend of $1.92 for a yield of roughly 2.48 percent. Shares of Wal-Mart have fallen approximately 2.0 percent year-to-date.
