Wall Street Fundamentals Releases New In-Depth Stock Reports on AEP, EXC, PCG and XEL

Utility stocks have regained popularity amongst investors in 2014 due to rising uncertainties in the broader markets and declining treasury yields. The S&P 500 Utilities Index has gained 4.87 percent year-to-date (the best out of the 10 sectors), while the S&P 500 Index has fallen 1.0 percent. "People are going to be looking at utilities more seriously this year in part because the stock market in general might be a little bit rockier," said John Carey, portfolio manager at Pioneer Investment Management. According to FactSet, the average dividend yield for utilities is 3.9 percent, compared to the S&P 500’s average dividend yield of 2.0 percent.

American Electric Power Company Inc. (NYSE: AEP) shares traded in the range of $48.75 to $49.74 Thursday before settling to close at $49.70, an increase of 1.47. The stock appears to have some support at the $49.52, $48.92 and $48.32 levels. The company currently offers investors an annual dividend yield of roughly 4.02 percent. Shares of American Electric have gained approximately 6.0 percent year-to-date.

Exelon Corporation (NYSE: EXC) shares traded in the range of $28.85 to $29.59 Thursday before settling to close at $29.40, an increase of 1.59 percent. The stock appears to be facing some resistance at the $30.02 and $30.34 levels with some support at $29.34 and $29.02. The company currently offers investors an annual dividend yield of roughly 4.22 percent. Shares of Exelon have gained approximately 7.0 percent year-to-date.

PG&E Corporation (NYSE: PCG) shares traded in the range of $43.00 to $43.94 Thursday before settling to close at $43.91, an increase of 1.76 percent. The stock appears to have some support at the $42.83, $42.27 and $42.13 levels. The company currently offers investors an annual dividend yield of roughly 4.14 percent. Shares of PG&E have gained approximately 9.0 percent year-to-date.

Xcel Energy Inc. (NYSE: XEL) shares traded in the range of $28.98 to $29.45 Thursday before settling to close at $29.43, an increase of 1.06 percent. The stock appears to have some support at the $29.33, $29.08 and $28.94 levels. The company currently offers investors an annual dividend yield of roughly 3.81 percent. Shares of Xcel Energy have gained approximately 5.0 percent year-to-date.
