Shares of Rite Aid Corp. closed up 2.58% on Thursday with nearly 20 million shares traded. The stock was one of the most actively traded stocks on the NYSE. On February 12th, the company announced the two winners of the 2013 Favorite Pharmacy Team Member contest are a pharmacy cashier from Cliffside Park, N.J., and a loyal customer of the company’s store in Mansfield, Mass. Both were selected at random from more than 14,000 entries in the 10th annual contest honoring Rite Aid's pharmacy team members for their commitment to customer care and service.

Shares of RTRX exploded on Thursday closing up 49.81% with nearly 3.9 million shares traded. The stock was one of the biggest advancers on the NASDAQ and had one of the biggest volume advances as well. Shares hit a new 52-week high of $17.86 during intra-day trading. The big gain came after the company announced an agreement to purchase privately held Manchester Pharmaceuticals after the closing bell last night. According to the press release, Retrophin will pay Manchester $62.5 million, which includes an upfront payment of $29.5 million, plus royalties that are based on its product sales.

Netflix Inc. had a modest close in the green on Thursday up 1.78% on about 2.7 million shares traded almost. The stock also hit a new all-time high during intra-day trading of $439.49. The company announced an exclusive licensing deal with Walt Disney's (DIS) animation unit to bring the 6th and final season of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" to Netflix subscribers.

Shares of Tokyo Electron Limited closed up 3.99% on Thursday with about 2.3 million shares. The company came 20 cents short of its 52-week high during intra-day trading despite the fact that there was no significant news released by the company. Tokyo Electron Limited, together with its subsidiaries, develops, manufactures, and sells semiconductor production equipment (SPE), flat panel display (FPD), and photovoltaic cell (PV) production equipment in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
