FuelCell Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: FCEL) shares closed up 17.36 percent on Friday with about 14.3 million shares traded. The stock was one of the biggest gainers on the NASDAQ. There was no significant news to explain the breakout. Last month the company released a press release announcing that it had completed a 14.9 MW fuel cell park for project owner Dominion Resources, which comes with a 15-year contractual energy purchase agreement.

Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (OTCBB: FMCC) shares closed down a modest 1.74 percent on Friday with about 2.5 million shares traded. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac collected $7.9 billion last year in settlements with seven major financial institutions to resolve lawsuits filed by the firms' regulator, the Federal Housing Finance Agency said last Thursday.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) shares closed up a very modest 0.77 percent on Friday with about 14.2 million shares traded. The stock was one of the biggest volume advancers on the NYSE and hit a new 52-week high of $58.95 during intra-day trading. The company recently agreed to settle a Pittsburgh lender’s lawsuit after a judge ordered the New York-based bank to turn over the government’s draft complaint at the center of its $13 billion deal with regulators.

Tower Group International, Ltd. (NASDAQ: TWGP) shares closed down 7.55 percent on Friday with about 4.5 million shares traded. The stock was one of the biggest decliners on the NASDAQ. Zacks Investment Research downgraded Tower Group International Ltd. to a Zacks Rank #5 which means Strong Sell. Tower Group International, Ltd., through its subsidiaries, underwrites insurance and reinsurance products in Bermuda, the United States, and London markets.
