Amyris, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMRS) shares closed up 15.96 percent this past Friday with over 3.1 million shares traded. The stock was one of the biggest gainers on the NASDAQ and hit a new 52-week high of $6.11 during intra-day trading. The company recently announced that it had sold $28 million in convertible notes to existing and new investors in a private placement. Amyris, Inc. is a renewable products company that engages in the provision of various alternatives to a range of petroleum-sourced products for the specialty chemical and transportation fuel markets worldwide.

Amarantus Bioscience Holdings, Inc. (OTC: AMBS) shares closed up 9.91 percent this past Friday with over 13.3 million shares traded. The stock was one of the biggest gainers in the OTC marketplace. Earlier this month the company announced that it has entered into an exclusive worldwide license agreement with the University of Massachusetts Medical School for intellectual property surrounding the use of mesencephalic astrocyte-derived neurotrophic factor (MANF) as both a biomarker and a treatment for beta cell-degenerating disorders (the "License"). The license agreement includes all intellectual property covering the use of MANF as a biomarker and treatment for beta cell degeneration disorders, including Wolfram syndrome, Type-1 diabetes and Type-2 diabetes.

Barracuda Networks, Inc. (NYSE: CUDA) shares closed up 20.35 percent on Friday with over 925,000 shares traded. The stock was one of the biggest winners on the NYSE and hit a new 52-week high of $35.95 during intra-day trading. The company announced this month that its NG Firewall product is now available in the Amazon Web Services Marketplace. NG Firewall, for its part, is available as a "Bring Your Own License" service -- user licenses can be purchased starting at $1,599 through traditional channels -- and provides secure remote network access between customers' networks and the Amazon Web Services platform.

VisionChina Media Inc. (NASDAQ: VISN) shares closed up 28.40 percent this past Friday with over 1.6 million shares traded. The stock was one of the biggest gainers on the NASDAQ and hit a new 52-week high of $31.63 during intra-day trading. VisionChina Media Inc. operates an out-of-home advertising network on mass transportation systems, including buses and subways. The company announced Key Quarterly Financial and Operating Data for the Third Quarter of 2013 back in November. Total revenues in the third quarter of 2013 were $28.5 million, representing a 6.9% increase from $26.7 million in the second quarter of 2013, exceeding the Company's revenue guidance.
