Shares hit a new 52-week high of $50.55 during intra-day trading. Semiconductor device supplier Avago Technologies Ltd. said Monday, Dec. 16, that it is paying $6.6 billion for LSI Corp.

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE: AMD) shares closed down 2.71 percent on Monday with about 22 million shares traded. The stock was one of the most active stocks in the NYSE. The stock’s fall came after an Oppenheimer report downgraded both semiconductor manufacturers to "underperform" from "perform." The company announced in its official blog that it's ARM "Seattle" CPU for the data center server market will be available next year.

NewLead Holdings Limited (NASDAQ: NEWL) shares closed down 12.77 percent on Monday making it one of the biggest percentage losers in the NASDAQ. The stock hit a new 52-week low of $1.20 during intra-day trading and traded nearly 700,000 shares. There was no significant news released but recently the company agreed to acquire one new building Eco Type geared double hull Handy size dry bulk vessel for a purchase price of $19.5 million. The vessel is 35,000 dwt and is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2014.
