Intel Corporation(NASDAQ:INTC): Morgan Stanley chip analyst Joseph Moore today offers a negative view, writing he's skeptical a recent uptick in personal computer demand will last.
Moore notes that his colleagues in Asia detect recent improvement in PC activity, echoing remarks last week from Citigroup:

Our Taiwan ODM analyst Grace Chen raised November notebook numbers last week among other indications of PC orders picking up. We think there is a small lift from Microsoft discontinuing XP support after 1Q14. Further, we believe that the PC supply chain inventory level was too lean, probably at least in part due to DRAM shortages post the Hynix fire [...] DRAM shortage after the Hynix fire drove very conservative builds early in the quarter; and we heard from PC OEMs earlier in the quarter that “we are not building for any upside” given the tightness [...] While we have seen a mix of good and bad months for PC data during this period of overall softness. This is the most clear uptick in builds in the last 12 months or so.
Morgan Stanley's Scott Devitt today pounds the table in favor of shares of Internet daily deals purveyor Groupon Inc(NASDAQ:GRPN), reiterating an Overweight rating and a $15 price target - mind you, with a target time frame of 2015 - writing that his meeting with management gives him confidence the company is “on the path to become a unique mobile commerce marketplace at scale.”
