Chimera Investment Corporation (NYSE: CIM) shares closed up a modest 0.64 percent on Tuesday with about 34 million shares traded. The stock had one of the biggest volume increases in the NYSE. Groupon, Inc. (NASDAQ: GRPN) shares closed up 4.37 percent on Tuesday with almost 24 million shares traded. The stock was one of the most actively traded stocks on the NASDAQ. There was no specific news for the move but the stock has rallied more than 10% in just the last three days.

Tiger Oil and Energy, Inc. (OTC: TGRO) shares closed down 4.23 percent on Tuesday making it one of the biggest decliners in the OTC market, but also one of the biggest volume jumpers. The stock traded about 9.1 million shares compared to an average of less than 250,000 shares and also hit a new 52-week high of $0.64 during intra-day trading. The company had no specific news.

J. C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE: JCP) shares closed up 3.56 percent on Tuesday with about 20.6 million shares traded. Trade-Ideas LLC identified J.C. Penny (JCP) as a "dead cat bounce" candidate.  The company was featured in a SeekingAlpha article entitled, “J.C. Penney: Projecting A $266 Million Loss In Q4. “
