Lowe's Companies Inc. (NYSE: LOW) shares saw a dramatic volume increase on Wednesday trading over 23 million shares compared to an average trading volume of only 7.4 million shares. The stock had one of the largest volume increases on the NYSE yesterday. Shares closed down 6.15 percent after Lowe's announced early Wednesday the company’s fiscal third-quarter earnings of 47 cents per share, one cent per share below Wall Street expectations.

The Alkaline Water Company Inc. (OTCBB: WTER) shares closed up 35.42 percent on Wednesday on a little over 1.8 million shares traded. The stock had one of the largest percentage advances in the OTCBB market yesterday. The Company announced that it has contracted with a respected Phoenix area independent bottling company in order to increase manufacturing efforts aimed at meeting the needs of its growing distribution network.

Nokia Corporation (NYSE: NOK) shares closed up a modest 1.71 percent on Wednesday on about 26.3 million shares. Nokia Oyj investors approved the sale of the company’s mobile-phone unit to Microsoft Corp. in a 5.44 billion-euro ($7.4 billion) deal. The deal is the largest strategic change for Nokia in more than two decades ago.

eBay Inc. (NASDAQ: EBAY) shares closed down 3.34 percent on Wednesday on about 34 million shares traded. The stock had one of the highest volume climbs on the NASDAQ yesterday. EBay is planning a big expansion of its "connected glass" shopping technology as the company tries to make more money in the physical retail world.
