Markets rallied Wednesday after the U.S. Senate announced a deal that would temporarily raise the debt ceiling, ending the partial 16-day shutdown and avoiding a debt default. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 205.82 points to close at 15,373.83, erasing Tuesday’s 133 point loss, while The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 1.20 percent to close at 3,839.43. All 10 groups in the S&P 500 rose to push the index to 1,721.54, just short of its all-time high of 1,725.52. Here is how some stocks reacted Wednesday:
Abbott Laboratories (NYSE: ABT) shares traded in the range of $34.24 to $36.07 Thursday before settling to close at $35.90, an increase of 6.50 percent. The stock appears to be facing some resistance at the $36.33 and $36.98 levels with some support at $35.71.

MGIC Investment Corp. (NYSE: MTG) shares traded in the range of $7.77 to $8.48 Thursday before settling to close at $8.33, an increase of 14.74 percent. The stock appears to have some support at the $8.04, $7.76 and $7.61 levels. Shares of MGIC Investment have gained approximately 15.0 percent in 2013.
