Abbotsford, BC August 17th, 2013 Gatekeeper Systems Inc. ("Gatekeeper" or the "Company") (TSX.V: GSI) is pleased to announce Clark County in Las Vegas has purchased its Student Protector License Plate Reading system to be used to help deter stop arm violations and protect children during loading and offloading while the buses are stopped. In addition, Gatekeeper's Traffic Infraction Management software (TIM) is used to manage the violations.
Clark County Schools is the 6th largest school district in the United States. Its buses make 18,000 stops every day and in a single day, a sampling of bus drivers reported over 2,597 stop arm violations, three times the national average. National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services (NSDPTS) reported that their survey points to 15 million stop arm violations in 2013.
Doug Dyment, President and CEO of Gatekeeper stated, "It's illegal to pass a school bus when the stop arm is engaged. In the past, a police officer would have to witness the event in order to issue a ticket. Children have been struck down and killed by stop arm violators, however new laws have been passed in many States and Provinces that allow authorities to use video from a school bus video system as evidence to issue a ticket. Gatekeeper creates an evidence package including an image of the license plate and other information that is used by authorities to create a case file. Average tickets range from $250.00 to $350.00." Dyment added, " Being in the school bus market since 1992, we were able to see this coming and adjusted our product road map to ensure we launched products with technological bite on a timely manner. Our Student Protector delivers reliable imagery at high speeds and our cloud based Traffic Infraction Management software rounds off the product line giving us an end to end solution from capturing the infraction to managing the entire ticket process."
Gatekeeper has seen significant growth in its sales funnel over the past several months and is projecting that this new market category will become an important revenue pillar moving forward.
