Abbotsford, BC September 3rd, 2013 Gatekeeper Systems Inc (the "Company" or "Gatekeeper") (TSX.V: GSI) is pleased to announce it has received a new contract from Western Canada International Corporation ("IC") for delivery of its solid state video system for operation on school buses in Northern Canada.
IC is the largest manufacturer of school buses in North America and this latest order will see Gatekeeper video systems operating on Takhini Transport school buses in the Yukon. Education Minister Scott Kent announced May 2nd, 2013 on the Yukon Government website that Takhini Transport was awarded a five year contract worth over $10 million. Video systems on the school buses were a requirement of the contract and Gatekeeper 's solid state video system was selected for all 54 Takhini school buses.
"Extreme weather conditions found in the Yukon can shorten the life of conventional video systems. We have experience designing equipment for military applications such as United States Air Force and Special OPS. That knowledge is very important for designing electronics that can operate reliably in extreme environments found in Northern Canada. Our system can power up in temperatures as low as -40 degrees C which is a real benefit when operating in the North", said Gatekeeper President and CEO, Doug Dyment. Dyment also added, "Three significant contracts were issued north of British Columbia this year. MV Transport and Anchorage School District, both in Alaska, and Takhini Transport in Alaska's neighboring State in Yukon. We couldn't be more pleased that all three selected Gatekeeper's solid state video technology to help provide a safe environment on their school buses".
