AmeriLithium Corporation (OTCBB: AMEL) is a junior lithium exploration company that has amassed one of the largest lithium portfolios among global pure-play lithium exploration companies, totalling 727,299 acres. These include four projects covering 20,000 acres in Nevada, USA, a  664,000-acre project in Alberta, Canada, and three projects comprising 43,000 acres in Western Australia.

AMEL’s four Nevada properties are in close proximity to the only lithium producing plant in the U.S., operated by Chemetall in the lithium-brine rich Clayton Valley playa. With a $2.5-million equity line financing, AMEL is well positioned to fund its 2012 exploration program.

There are several mining and exploration companies that operate in areas near AmeriLithium’s Nevada properties. Chemetall Foote Corporation, a subsidiary of Rockwood Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:ROC) operates the only U.S.-based lithium producing plant in Clayton Valley, Nevada.  In addition, Li3 Energy (OTCBB: LIEG), First Liberty Power (OTC BB: FLPC) and American Lithium Minerals (OTCBB: AMLM OTC-BB) are other lithium mining and exploration companies operating in Nevada.
