Sawa Energy Inc. and University of Calgary enter into a MOU on the development of Biofuels

April 23, 2012 Calgary.  Sawa Energy Inc is pleased to announce that it has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Dr. Nader Mahinpey of the University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering.  The MOU details the scope of cooperation between Sawa Energy and Dr. Mahinpey, and covers biomass generation from agricultural bi-products, and the effective use of biomass for the production of electricity. 

Dan Rickard, Sawa Energy Inc, CEO says “This is an exciting time for Sawa Energy, and we believe that this MOU will strengthen our position to deliver clean, environmentally friendly electricity to the market.  Agricultural bi-products play a critical role in the future reduction of green house gasses, and we look forward to collaborating with the University to advance the industry.”

The MOU also highlights specific subjects of cooperation that include the analysis of existing bio-fuel sources, recommendations on equipment configuration, and agricultural bi-product conversion to bio-fuels.

Dr. Mahinpey, of the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary, says “This MOU is a positive step in moving towards the commercialization of our R&D efforts.  We are excited to have the opportunity to move the technology out of the lab, and into the field.”
