He is the guest of METal International, a global media, entertainment, and technology alpha leader. An innovation focused organization, it creates exclusive gatherings of and for dynamic entrepreneurs and change-makers in the media and next technology space. As well as bringing together thought leaders in Los Angeles on a weekly basis, it has staged METal Dubai, METal India, and METal Jakarta - and is open to taking the METal brand of entrepreneurship to other countries.

Mr. Tickell, a thought leader in environmental engineering and Sundance Film Festival award-winner, is the keynote speaker at an event for over-21s hosted broadcaster and Nextist Ken Rutkowski. His speech, How To Reverse Climate Change and Feed Humanity, will explain how his studies of the biogenic cycles of Earth, painstakingly carried out over two decades, led him to look at the way people treat soil.

He explains: "Hope is not lost. My studies have shown that the way we treat the soil is more damaging than any other human activity, including carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels. In fact, by treating the soil poorly, we are altering water cycles and causing heatwaves which, in turn, are causing environmental disasters."

Mr. Tickell adds: "We have unwittingly reverse-terraformed our planet but, I believe, we can terraform it back in time to sustain 10 billion people."

Mr. Tickell drove a van powered by used cooking oil, dubbed the "The Veggie Van", across the US in 1997. His epic journey galvanised millions the world over to the previously ignored alternative fuels movement. His subsequent movie, FUEL, was shortlisted for an Oscar, shown in the White House and screened in theaters around the globe. He has subsequently directed many films and written three books, the most recent of which, Kiss the Ground, How the Food You Eat Can Reverse Climate Change, Heal Your Body and Ultimately Save the World, is a #1 New Release on Amazon.com.

He says: "The book and an upcoming documentary film are the results of a global journey through science, agriculture, and technology."

The METal International event is taking place on Saturday, November 18, at the Nuart Theatre, 11272 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Los Angeles, from 9 am to 12 pm.
