SAVANNAH, GA / ACCESSWIRE / October 4, 2017 / Harris Lowry Manton LLP held the fourth Annual First Responders Appreciation Celebration Lunch on September 27, 2017 in Daffin Park, in Savannah. The annual event coincided with National First Responders Day. The lunch was held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and featured live music, food from Savannah's own Kirk Blaine, and giveaways.
"These men and women are what keep our communities safe," said partner Steve Lowry. "What they do is so important to all of us. We wanted to recognize their work, their training and their sacrifices, and to show them just how thankful we all are to them. Today was about good food, good music and good friends, all coming together for a little fun."
Multiple local news stations also attended the event, reporting on the size of the crowds, and talking with the Coastal Empire's First Responders. "When we go in for a 24-hour shift, we're on for 24 hours — whether you're in the shower, eating dinner, anything. Like they're going out there now. You have to be gear-on, loaded up in the truck at any second," SFES fire fighter Brian Conye told Savannah Now. "But it's a good job. We get to do our part to help out the community, and we're all part of this community."
A first responder is a person who is trained to respond to emergency situations. That includes police officers, fire fighters, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers and national volunteer services, as well as disaster agencies.
