Local singer/songwriter, Leon Markcus who took the music scene by storm in 2016 with his unique blend of alternative pop & electronic music, is now making a comeback with a new music video for "Alive" — directed by Alvin Ling and in collaboration with the National Arts Council, Noise Singapore and music producer Jeff Hue (NOISE AWARDEE 2015: CANVAS CONVERSATIONS). The video aims to debunk the often misrepresented stereotypes of people with self-harm thoughts and makes it clear that self-harm can happen to anyone.
The official music video features two friends struggling to overcome the harsh challenges faced in their personal lives, resulting in one individual attempting to take his own life. The video aims to strike a chord in the hearts of its audiences to bring about more awareness towards people who are at risk of self-harm and how it can affect anyone; not just a group of people who display stereotypical characteristics of depression. Leon Markcus' promotional single "Alive" has been available on iTunes Music, Spotify, Youtube and other streaming platforms since 30 June 2017. "Alive" as a track has been doing commercially well, and has been streamed at several bars, restaurants as well as festivals, like SHINE Festival & Pink Dot 2017. "Alive" is also scheduled for a digital distribution under Leeway Music and Media in South Korea on the 10th of August 2017 such as Melon, Mnet, and Genie.
About Leon Markcus: Leon Markcus is a Singaporean singer-songwriter who is known for his eclectic sound of pop music. His debut EP Mannequin was released on 15th June 2016 and topped the charts in iTunes Music that very month.
