National Stage Applications Upon PCT/US2015/056635 Are Currently in the Process of Being Filed in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Europe, Eurasia, India, Israel, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, South Africa, and South Korea

DENVER, CO / ACCESSWIRE / April 20, 2017 / United Cannabis Corporation (OTCQB: CNAB) (the "Company" or "United Cannabis"), the creator of Prana Bio Nutrient Medicinals, today announced that it is expanding protection of its intellectual properties, and National Stage applications based upon PCT/US2015/056635, and pursuant to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), for "Cannabis Extracts and Methods of Preparing and Using Same" are currently in the process of being filed in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Europe, Eurasia, India, Israel, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, South Africa and South Korea.

The processes included in the filing are integral to the Company's branded products, including the Prana Bio Nutrient Medicinals line, and comprise the application of strain specific ratio based phytocannabinoids, cannabinoids, chemical-free extractions, and the use of cannabis derived terpenes in the medical and pharmaceutical delivery methods, including capsules, sublinguals, topicals, transdermal applications, supplements, edibles, aerosol sprays, nebulizers, inhalers, aromatherapy, suppositories, and vaporization.

Tony Verzura, United Cannabis' Chief Technology Officer, commented on the filing, "We have always taken a scientific approach to medical cannabis, with the objective of providing patients with the highest quality product. This philosophy touches every aspect of our operation - from the genetics we use to acceptable cultivation practices, to the extraction techniques, delivery mechanisms and formulations we create - as we seek to maximize the bioavailability of each of our product profiles. As we broaden our presence in the market, it is critical that we protect the proprietary nature of our intellectual property, as well as the anticipated financial returns on our investment."

Mr. Verzura went on to say, "These filings will expand the existing international protection of our proprietary processes as well as secure the safe licensing of these technologies to interested parties around the world. I expect that we will file for additional patents branching off from this foundation as regulation develops in other countries around the world."

PCT is an international treaty that provides patent protection simultaneously in more than 145 Contracting States through a single application, rather than filing separate national or regional patent applications. The acceptance of the application by PCT establishes a filing date in all contracting states, providing the Company with a precedent against any future competing filings.
