MORRISTOWN, NJ / ACCESSWIRE / October 5, 2016 / Louis Berger has been awarded a $5 million contract by the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) to provide program management services to expand the Regional Water and Horsethief Canyon Water Reclamation facilities in Southern California.

"We are honored to play a key role in furthering EVMWD's ability to bring reliable and affordable water and wastewater services to its customers," said Christopher Dull, Louis Berger vice president - water and wastewater. "Our team has more than 60 years of experience innovating water and wastewater programs worldwide and we are excited to partner with the district to efficiently bring more water to the places it's needed most."

The company will assist the EVMWD with finalizing the design consultant selection and begin working on critical upgrades including headworks, clarifier, membrane bioreactors (MBRs), solids handling and plant process piping. The team will also capitalize on its experience providing compliance monitoring for other Southern California water clients.

Louis Berger will partner with KEH Group for the project. KEH brings experience researching, applying and monitoring performance of grant and loan funding for capital projects.

"Recent droughts have increased customer demand for recycled water as an affordable way to build and sustain water resources," said Dull. "The expansions to these facilities will help reduce dependence on imported water as well as the competition for its uses."

EVMWD is expanding Louis Berger's portfolio with water authorities in Southern California. The firm has previously worked with Chino Basin Desalter Authority and Valley Center Municipal Water District, specifically with state revolving funding grant application and compliance monitoring.

Louis Berger has innovated water and wastewater programs worldwide since the 1950s. These programs have ranged from strengthening institutions and building local capacity to address water and sanitation issues, to preparing designs and managing the rehabilitation or construction of critical water infrastructure. The firm also has participated in the restoration of waterways to improve recreation, water quality and human health, as well as developing strategies for improved flood risk reduction programs.
