MORRISTOWN, NJ / ACCESSWIRE / August 25, 2016 / The U.S. National Park Service (NPS) today enters its second century as the preeminent custodian of the U.S.'s network of national parks. In the lead up to the centennial, Louis Berger has harnessed excitement around the NPS centennial to launch "Explorers Wanted," one of its most ambitious employee engagement initiatives ever.

"NPS is a long standing client of Louis Berger, but we wanted to give back to NPS by empowering Louis Berger employees, both individually and collectively, to memorialize the importance and beauty of their favorite national parks and to participate in efforts to preserve and beautify those parks," said Dana Otto, Louis Berger's senior vice president of environmental planning.

Over the past 15 months, through the Explorers Wanted initiative, Louis Berger employees (as well as their family and friends) submitted hundreds of photos capturing their experiences in more than 65 U.S. national parks across the mid-Atlantic region, New York State, Florida, California and even American Samoa, among other areas. The company organized a photo competition and prominently featured winning submissions on its homepage.

Due to the success of the Explorers Wanted initiative last summer, Louis Berger this summer launched "Explorers Wanted: 100 Volunteers for 100 Years." This phase of the initiative seeks to encourage employee volunteerism in national parks. To date, Louis Berger offices have organized multiple clean up/trash removal, painting and beautification group efforts in national parks near Denver, Colo., Kansas City, Mo., Morristown, N.J., Washington, D.C., and Elmsford, N.Y. Additional employee outings also are planned at national parks near Exton, Pa. and as part of virtual five-kilometer run at Louis Berger offices around the country.
