LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / May 5, 2016 / Filmmaker Lindsay Wilner is pleased to announce the release of her new indie film: Ledge Dweller. As Wilner noted, Ledge Dweller tells the tale of the connection between a middle-aged woman and a little person; a relationship that is not typically portrayed in movies.

The dark comedy focuses on Jill Pierce, a 46-year-old wife and mother who is feeling bored and unfulfilled. To try to find some type of meaning and excitement in her life, Jill embarks on high-risk behaviors, including drinking, drugging, stealing and making out with her daughter's high school quarterback boyfriend.

Along the way, Jill realizes that she has to figuratively jump and lose herself in order to find herself again. During the course of the film, she meets Dr. Joe Truman, a successful general surgeon and little person.

"Ledge Dweller aims to dispel the negative stereotyping by presenting an empowering representation of a little person who refuses to allow his height to define him," Wilner said.

"This begs the question: why should anyone allow physical limitations or challenges to restrict what lies at the core of his or her personhood?"

In order to pay for the costs associated with producing her new indie film, Wilner recently launched a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter. She hopes to raise $250,000 through crowdfunding.

As Wilner noted, more than anything, Ledge Dweller is a love story about a middle-aged woman who learns to accept and love herself. The film also provides a positive platform for little people, who are under-represented in movies.

In addition to her work as a filmmaker, Wilner is the founding director of the Christmas Box House, a center for at-risk children, who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect and abandonment.

Through her work, Wilner frequently met women clients who were wrestling with midlife crises. After having one of her own, she pursued a different career path as a screenwriter of narrative films.

"Ledge Dweller, the movie, is dedicated to all women who seek rebirth in middle age," she said.
