Over 25 Years Ago, Vidali Was Involved in a Fireplace Accident That Burned Over 60 Percent of His Body

LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / May 3, 2016 / Giulio Vidali, a victim of a fireplace accident that burned over 60 percent of his skin, recently announced his decision to travel to America to undergo a face transplant surgery. Vidali's story begins when he was four years old: he was standing close to the fireplace when a bottle of gasoline exploded, resulting in severe burns. Although he tried to be strong, his childhood was challenging—but he always maintained a good social life. After high school, he made the decision to join the Italian Army, where he served for three years, and ended up meeting his wife Veronica, with whom he would go on to have two children.

Once he left the service, Vidali worked as a paramedic and a Fire Search and Rescue Squad member until he was offered a job in Malaysia as Telelife's Director and Motivational Speaker. Eager for the new experience, Vidali accepted the offer. However, even though it has been many years since the accident, Vidali now wonders what it is like to go out or meet new people without questions about his scars.

“Every time I go with my kids to a party, I see other people staring at me, wondering what happened,” said Vidali. “Now that my daughter is old enough to understand, I would like to avoid her friends asking what happened to her daddy. I think its time for a change.”

After consulting with his lifelong surgeon, Dr. Jan Jackson, Vidali wishes to try a new method to heal burn victims: face transplant surgery. He has taken his story to GoGetFunding.com, where he hopes to raise enough money to move to the U.S. and have the surgery performed. Vidali welcomes donations to help mitigate some of the costs associated with his surgery, such as doctors' and hospital fees.
