BEACHWOOD, OH / ACCESSWIRE / January 27, 2015 / Ohio and Michigan just don't get along, at least according to sports fanatics. Redwood Living's CEO Steve Kimmelman sees it differently. Whether college or professional, sports rivalries are strong between the two states. Think of Ohio State battling Michigan, Cleveland State squaring off with the University of Detroit, Indians fighting Tigers, Toledo tussling with Eastern Michigan-the list goes on.

But when it comes to something like the multifamily housing business, one would hope that competitiveness can look a little less spiteful, that quality apartments can and would be provided to people in both Ohio and Michigan.

According to Redwood Living CEO Steve Kimmelman, that's exactly what is happening for his company, "We build our single-story apartment homes all over Ohio-Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Toledo and points in between. Why shouldn't we give Michigan residents a chance to enjoy Redwood Living?"

Steve Kimmelman, a Cleveland native and proud Cleveland State University graduate, started Redwood more than twenty five years ago, and began filling Ohio with apartment home communities featuring single-story living with no upstairs or downstairs neighbors. Redwood also provides a private attached garage for every apartment. After Ohio Kimmelman started looking north.

"Michigan struck us as a natural market for the type of product we offer. We appeal to people who want the feel of a single family neighborhood but don't want the stress of home ownership, or the cost of taxes and repairs." Plus, Kimmelman adds, "Michigan winters are as tough as Northeast Ohio's, and everyone enjoys a private attached garage in cold weather."

Now Redwood is busy welcoming new residents in locations north of Detroit, such as Lake Orion, Commerce Township, Howell, Macomb and Canton. To the west, communities are being developed in Grand Rapids and eventually Redwood plans to head all the way up to Traverse City.

Residents in all the Michigan communities don't seem to care that it's an Ohio company that brings them this good living.

For Steve Kimmelman, it just goes to show that people's desires transcend geographic borders, "No matter where you live, you want your home to be a peaceful sanctuary away from the stressful job and all the activities that keep us running around." Kimmelman says that Redwood succeeds because it provides smartly designed single-story apartment homes without noisy upstairs or downstairs neighbors.

And come bitterly cold months like January and February, both Michigan and Ohio residents count private attached garages as slam-dunk, home run, and touchdown filled victories.
