Hickey to Discuss Medical Marijuana Industry with Sri Lankan Officials

HOUSTON, TX / ACCESSWIRE / January 12, 2015 / Solanbridge Group Inc (OTC: SLNX) is pleased to announce that Earle G. Hickey, President of Solanbridge Group NS, Inc., will be in Sri Lanka this week and plans to meet with the newly elected Executive President of Sri Lanka His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, concerning the benefits of medical marijuana. This will be Mr. Hickey's fourth trip to Sri Lanka.

Charles R. Shirley, CEO of Solanbridge Group Inc, stated, "We are excited to announce the details of the business trip to Sri Lanka. There has been a great groundswell of support for the legalization of medical marijuana in Sri Lanka and we are happy to provide information, support, and assistance in this area."

The Deputy Minister of Plantation & Industries has written a bill and formed a committee to present to Parliament seeking to change the governing Ayurveda Act, overturning the Sri Lankan ban on marijuana. Some of the key points of the bill reflect the research that verifies its medical efficacy,  its fibres can be used to create material for manufacturing products, and Sri Lanka can financially profit from the legalization of the new industry.

Mr. Hickey traveled to Sri Lanka on three occasions and 2014. He began a series of discussions including a meeting with the Minister of Plantations, who is a surgeon by training and also a meeting with the former President of Sri Lanka.

During the previous trips, Mr. Hickey was introduced to Ms. Sumudu Surangi Karunarathna, a small business owner in Kandy engaged in horticulture, landscaping, and plant care. She was instrumental in arranging all meetings with Sri Lankan officials and ensuring administrative, accommodation, and cultural processes operated flawlessly and she currently works within Sri Lanka developing business for Solanbridge. Ms. Karunarathna is a member of the Advisory Board of Solanbridge Group NS Inc.
