Atlanta, GA / ACCESSWIRE / December 18, 2014 / recent study by CarLingo identifies a great opportunity for solutions that help reduce negotiation in the car buying process. In fact, this research indicates that consumers really dislike negotiation, and would pay a lot of money to avoid it.

CarLingo leveraged Qualtrics' Research Suite to survey 266 car shoppers. The results of this consumer car shopping survey reveal some interesting insights into consumers' thoughts around negotiating with car dealers. Specifically:

- Two thirds (66%) of consumers would pay a premium to avoid negotiation; on average, this amounts to $626 per vehicle.

- More than two-thirds (79%) of consumers would demand a savings to suffer through a long, drawn-out negotiation with the dealer. On average, they would demand $1,064 per car.

But not all consumers hate negotiation. Of the 266 car shoppers surveyed, they were split 50/50 between those that would prefer a fair price with no negotiation, and a lower price with negotiation. Half of consumers don't mind a negotiation, if they can get a lower price as a result.

"These interesting findings will have an impact on how the industry builds solutions for consumers,"said CarLingo CEO and Founder Steve Greenfield. "Clearly there's a large segment of consumers who see great value in avoiding negotiation with the dealer. CarLingo will be looking to capitalize on this information by developing consumer-centric shopping and buying solutions that reduce or eliminate negotiation."
