Los Angeles, CA and Paris, France / ACCESSWIRE / November 21, 2014 / Portuguese artists will be present with their work in exhibitions taking place in Paris (France) and Los Angeles (California, USA).

In Paris the exhibition will be held at the Consulate General of Portugal and the protagonists are artists sculptor Isabel Meyrelles and painter Santiago Ribeiro.

Cited by Prof. Aníbal Pinto de Castro (Cupertino de Miranda Foundation) Isabel Meyrelles is undoubtedly a great example of aesthetic vitality. Endowed with high creative ability, remarkably independent of criteria and options, in accordance with the guidelines and surrealist aesthetics of Breton and Cruzeiro Seixas, she expresses her inner world through a single domain of words and through the meaning of plastic art forms. Isabel Meyrelles lives in Paris since 1950, where she has created most of her artwork. She regularly travels to Portugal where she exhibits notably in the city of Lisbon and at the Cupertino Miranda Foundation in VN Famalicão.

Santiago Ribeiro is one of the most active surrealist painters in Portugal, updating the genre for the XXI century. According to António Arnaut (poet and writer), " Santiago Ribeiro paintings give us the real and the fictitious, the unreal and its penumbra, the movement and its hyperbole, as the pleasure of the sower that caresses the harvest. If the trace surrealist what his paintings truly show us, in a fair balance of colors, is another reality, as if the figures who challenge us were our own shadows lifted from the depths of memory."

Santiago Ribeiro is the mentor and driving force behind the International Surrealism Now, a project that began in Coimbra, supported and organized by Bissaya Barreto Foundation in 2010, the latest chapter in a series of surrealist exhibitions across the world and in his hometown Coimbra .

The Paris exhibition is entitled "L'envers de la Réalité". A surrealistic expression to explain that Surrealism is like a ripping curtain that reveals to us what is happening on the other side of reality.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on December 4, 2014 at 18:30, will be open until January 8, 2015 and is co-organized by the Consulate General of Portugal in Paris, a cultural space open to amateurs and lovers of Visual Arts, and GAPP (Galeria de Arte Portugal Presente).

The U.S.A. exhibition will be held at the Latino Art Museum in Los Angeles, California, and is entitled "21st Century Luso-American Surrealism ".

This exhibition emerged through invitation by American surrealist artist Shahla Rosa and it features artworks by artists:Portugal - Francisco Urbano, Santiago Ribeiro, Victor Lages;

USA - France Garrido, KD Matheson, Olga Spiegle, Shahla Rosa.

The participating artists in these two exhibitions (Paris and Los Angeles), integrate the project International Surrealism Now.

Portuguese artists Victor Lages and Francisco Urbano have undoubtedly accompanied the international initiatives with great dynamism, having their own cultural projects with great projection.

The exhibition is organized by the Latino Art Museum and artist Shahla Rosa and will be open to the public from December 4 to December 27, 2014.
