The Two-Part Series also Explains How Butane is Refined

Denver, CO / ACCESSWIRE / November 21, 2014 / The founders of ButaneSource.com, a company that offers high quality bottled refined butane, is proud to announce that they have just released an in-depth and educational two-part expose about how butane is manufactured and refined. The first part of the series has already been published on the company's website, and the second article was published on November 19.

As the newly-published first article explains, butane refers to one of two colorless and odorless structural isomers of the chemical compound C4H10. As a powerful derivative of natural gas, butane-which is sold under names like Puretane Butane and Lucienne Butane-is used to fuel a variety of tools and products including camping stoves, torches and portable heaters.

All of the top butane companies have procedures set in place for the process of finding, refining and bottling butane which is then sold on the market. First, geologists and geophysicists use innovative technology to find reservoirs of butane in rock formations. This involves using computer assisted exploration seismology, which includes 3-D and 4-D seismic imaging to see what is below the Earth's top crust. Once a natural gas reserve has been found, it is drilled and wells are set up.

"A new and very effective, albeit controversial, method involves recovering oil from shale rock by using hydraulic fracturing," the first article explained, adding that this process involves drilling deep into the earth and aiming a high-pressure mixture of water, sand, and chemicals at a rock to release the gas inside, which then flows up into the well above ground.

"This revolutionary practice is dramatically increasing production of oil and natural gas by tapping into previously impossible-to-reach reserves."

As the article notes, the United States should have enough natural gas reserves left to last for at least another century.

In the second part of the series, ButaneSource.com explains more about the butane refinement process as well as the possible future of the industry.
