WINSTON-SALEM, NC / ACCESSWIRE / November 19, 2014 / Piedmont Propulsion Systems LLC (PPS), a subsidiary of First Aviation Services Inc., in its continuing effort to expand its product offerings has added two additional Saab 340 / Dowty propeller types to its repair station capabilities list.   Specifically, PPS is now capable of performing all maintenance, repair and overhaul functions for the two most popular propeller types for the Saab 340: Dowty R375/4-123-F/21 and Dowty R390/4/123-F/27.

PPS was already previously capable of overhauling the UTC Aerospace / Hamilton Sundstrand model 14RF propellers installed on most of the remaining Saab 340 aircraft.

The United States Federal Aviation Administration ("FAA") recently approved PPS's Part 145 certification to include, without limitation, a Propeller Class 1 and Propeller Class 2 Ratings for all Dowty, Hamilton/UTAS, Hartzell and Textron/McCauley propeller types.

The FAA also presented PPS's Dowty Crew Team with an FAA AEA-FSDO-39 award in recognition of PPS's multi-decade long record for safety and quality in the repair and overhaul of Dowty Propeller systems.

PPS has invested heavily into new propeller repair station capabilities in its modern world-class facility.  Earlier this year, PPS added capability to overhaul the Hamilton / UTAS model 568F propeller for the ATR42 and ATR72, and Dowty model R391 propeller for the C-130J and C-27J.  PPS remains the world's only propeller repair and overhaul facility with FAA-approved capability that includes all of the large, composite propellers fitted to the latest generation of regional turboprop aircraft, including the ATR42-500/-600 & ATR72-500/600, Bombardier Dash 8 Q400, and Lockheed Martin C-130J.

"PPS's has made a commitment to support all customers whether they are operating legacy aircraft or the newest turboprops with world class service and support.  Our continued success is a testament to the hard-work and diligence of our technicians, engineers, and support staff.  We are proud of the recognition that FAA has bestowed upon the Piedmont Propulsion team and we look forward to adding Saab 340 customers to the PPS family," says Sammy Oakley, Vice President and General Manager of PPS.
