Mo and Mary Sallah, avid sailors and divers, have traveled to more than 20 countries lying between the Tropic of Cancer (23.5 North) and Tropic of Capricorn (23.5 South). Between the two of them, they had also lived and worked in the British Virgin Islands, Antigua & Barbuda, Anguilla, and the Dominican Republic. They were constantly on the lookout for clothing that offered sun protection and breathability that would also feel soft against the skin and drape nicely in the warmest conditions.

"We eventually decided to make our own," Mo said.
