Ontario, Canada / September 23, 2014 / The Wealthy Venture Capitalist, an Investment Newsletter bringing Wall Street Investing to Main Street Investors, would like to report on an article originally posted on May 28, 2014, to http://www.ctvnews.ca/health uncovering a study that has found that supplementation of Melatonin, which is widely known as a sleep aid, may increase bone density.

The study led by Faleh Tamimi, a professor at McGill's School of Dentistry, found that supplemental doses of the naturally occurring hormone melatonin increased bone strength in elderly rats. Well known to regulate circadian rhythms, melatonin may inhibit the activity of osteoclasts, nocturnal bone cells that spur the breakdown process.

"As we age, we sleep less well, which means that the osteoclasts are more active," said Tamimi. "This tends to speed up the process of bone breakdown." In the study, 20 male rats that were 22 months old were given melatonin supplements diluted in their drinking water. After 10 weeks – equivalent to approximately six human years - bone density and bone strength tests revealed increased volume and density in the test group and little difference in the control group.

Melatonin is produced by the endocrine gland in the brain. Upon passage to receptor cells, it provokes sleep by lowering the body temperature. Considered a natural sleep aid, melatonin is available over-the-counter in North America.

San Diego, CA Company EHouse Global (OTC: EHOS) runs a nutritional supplement company (www.nutraliquids.com) that is getting set to launch a 16 product line of all-natural liquid supplements packaged in ready to drink pouches. The NutraLiquids line includes a product called Restera, which is a liquid supplement for adults containing Melatonin. While Restera was already an innovative product solely for its sleep benefits, it has added luster because of these new findings on bone density.
