Vancouver, BC / ACCESSWIRE / Aug 21, 2014 / Delfonic Film Company and Deeply Scarred Productions are pleased to announce that the feature film "PRIMARY" will premiere, domestically, Aug. 28th, 29th and 30th at the prestigious Montreal World Film Festival.

Starring Dustin Milligan, Michael Eklund and Katharine Isabelle and Written and Directed by Ross Ferguson, "PRIMARY" is a true independent film made against the odds. The Vancouver-shot production was self-financed and brought to life by a dedicated and talented volunteer Crew and a talented Cast that worked well below their regular pay scale in order to realize the script.

The film received a triumphant World Premiere at the Shanghai International Film Festival, in June, where it was selected as the opening film for the Focus Canada section of the festival.

"PRIMARY" is a good example of the trend in today's independent film scene in which digital technology is allowing for an increased democratization of the medium", said Director Ross Ferguson. "That said, it was a challenge and we owe big thank-you's to the Crew, Cast, equipment houses and the good people of Vancouver. We're thrilled at the response to the film so far and excited to bring it home to Canada for its North American premiere," added Ferguson.

The art-house thriller/drama is part murder-mystery-puzzle, part morality tale. Unique and provocative, "PRIMARY" pushes the boundaries of traditional narrative while examining the themes of competition, morality and human nature. Given today's climate of debate with regard to the 'Haves' and the 'Have-Nots', it also has a timely feel.

LOGLINE: An ambitious insurance executive (Milligan), whose world is crumbling apart, attempts to live a moral life but is conned and left penniless by a friend. When he decides to take back his assets, beyond morality, he will discover his own true nature.

All screenings will take place at the Cineplex Odeon (Latin Quarter), 350 Emery Street. The 38th edition of the Montreal World Film Festival runs from August 21st – September 1st, 2014.

Future film festival stops include Cinefest Sudbury and the Edmonton International Film Festival.

Delfonic Film Company is based in Vancouver, B.C. Deeply Scarred Productions—Executive Producer Lou Webster, Producer Vince Prokop and Associate Producer Catherine Gunn—is based in Victoria, B.C. "PRIMARY" was developed with the participation of Telefilm Canada.
