Despite not having won a playoff game since the 1990 NFL season, the Cincinnati Bengals have emerged as a possible Super Bowl sleeper for this season. The Bengals have been no stranger to the playoffs over the past few seasons; however, they always seem to blow it once they get there. The Bengals have had a relatively quiet offseason, and much of their success this season will ride on the arm of quarterback Andy Dalton.

Dalton had a phenomenal regular season in 2013, throwing for over 4,200 yards, 33 touchdowns, and leading the Bengals to their first division title since 2009. The Bengals have made the postseason every year with Dalton under center, but once they get there Dalton always seems to choke. In his three playoff games with the Bengals, Dalton has thrown only one touchdown while turning the ball over six times. Despite his lack of playoff wins, the Bengals recently penned Dalton to a six year, $115 million contract extension. However, there is a silver lining for Bengals fans: since his rookie season, Dalton's numbers have gone up every season largely due to Wide Receiver A.J. Green. Green has emerged as one of the top five receivers in the NFL; and with Green to throw to and running back Giovani Bernard in the back field, the Bengals may be able to have an offense that matches their top ranked defense.

The Bengals defense has gotten better every year under head coach Marvin Lewis. Between sack artist Geno Atkins and 2013 NFL leading tackler Vontaze Burfict, the Bengals had one of the top defenses in the league this past season—in fact, Week Five against the New England Patriots, the Bengals defense gave up only two field goals and prevented Tom Brady from throwing a touchdown pass, stopping Brady's consecutive games with the touchdown pass streak at 52 games. The defense will only get better this year if Atkins can stay healthy this season.

The Bengals have a very manageable schedule this year and should have no problem repeating as AFC North division champs. The Bengals biggest games this season come Week 11 when they visit the New Orleans Saints and Week 16 when they host the Denver Broncos. It will be interesting to see how the Bengals defense can hold up against two of the top offenses in the NFL.

The complete Cincinnati Bengals schedule for the 2014 regular season is as follows:

Week 1: September 7th at Baltimore Ravens
Week 2: September 14th vs. Atlanta Falcons
