OTTAWA, ONTARIO / ACCESSWIRE / July 15, 2014 / Thermal Energy International Inc. ("Thermal Energy" or the "Company") (TSXV: TMG), a global provider of energy efficiency and emission reduction solutions, announced today that it has received a purchase order valued at approximately $246 thousand from a major publicly-owned hospital. On September 10, 2013, the Company announced that it had received purchase orders from this hospital for both a heat recovery system order and a GEM(R) steam trap system totaling approximately $780,000. This latest order is for an expansion to the heat recovery system installation that was completed in May, 2014.

"This heat recovery expansion project was championed by the hospital's own engineers after they witnessed the success of our initial installation," said William Crossland, CEO of Thermal Energy. "Most hospitals are looking for ways to cut operating costs without impacting the overall level and quality of the healthcare services they provide. With our proprietary energy efficiency products, hospitals around the world can recapture waste heat and/or improve their steam operations, resulting in significant fuel and maintenance cost savings while also reducing their carbon emissions."

This project will help the hospital save an additional $64 thousand in operating expenses annually; reduce carbon emissions by a further 185 tonnes per year; and has an estimated payback period of approximately four years. Including the previously announced heat recovery system order and a GEM(R) steam trap system and the order announced today, Thermal Energy's energy efficiency solutions will help the hospital realize annual fuel savings of 36% and a 10% reduction in carbon emissions.

With this order Thermal Energy's order backlog currently stands at approximately $7.2 million of which approximately $0.5 million is related to long-term contracts and is not expected to be reflected in revenue within the next 12 months. Thermal Energy includes in "order backlog" all purchase orders received for product or services that have not yet been reflected as revenue in the Company's published quarterly financial statements.
