BioTech Medics, Inc., (PINKSHEETS: BMCS) distributors of SHBAN Alcohol Free Persistent Hand Sanitizer announces tips to help individuals to combat the massive 2013 influenza outbreak. The Center for Disease Control has identified the 2013 flu season as much worse than normal specifically for elderly people. 48 States have reported significant outbreaks. According to medical experts this years Flu Shots are only 62% effective. A new strain of stomach bug sweeping the globe is taking over in the U.S. Since September, more than 140 outbreaks in the U.S. according to the CDC have been caused by the new Sydney strain of norovirus. Flu shots are not effective against the Sydney norovirus strain.

If you are a fanatic about germs and are faithful in using alcohol gel hand sanitizers; have you wondered why those who use alcohol gel hand sanitizers still get a cold or flu? Hand hygiene is recognized by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) as the single most important means of preventing the spread of infection. Effective hand hygiene by washing your hands with soap and water kills germs that are easily spread by hands.

However, when you cannot wash your hands, some people go for alcohol gels that claim to kill 99.9% of germs. Did you know the norovirus, Sydney norovirus, cold virus, H1N1 (Swine) Influenza A or H5N1 (Avian Bird Flu) Influenza A viruses are not germs! Alcohol gels with 60% or less alcohol content, have not been proven effective against some viruses unless an additional active ingredient is included in the blend. Triclosan is an alcohol gel additive ingredient under further study by the FDA and known to be environmentally hazardous. Many brands of alcohol gel sanitizers contain more than 60 percent alcohol, the same type found in alcoholic drinks, but others are made with isopropyl alcohol, which can be fatal, even in small doses if children ingest it. Benzalkonium chloride (BAC) studies have shown it to be an allergen, carncinogen and immunosuppresive chemical. Several studies have cast doubt on its reputation for safety. It is widely used in mouthwashes, spermicidal creams, and hand sanitizers. BAC requires higher concentrations to be effective against specific viruses. BAC is also commonly used in oil field industry as a corrosion inhibitor and specifically used for military applications.

The CDC and the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the use of “persistent” hand sanitizers. Persistent activity is defined as the prolonged or extended antimicrobial activity that prevents or inhibits the proliferation or survival of microorganisms after application of the product. Alcohol gels alone don’t work after they dry on your hands. So they are not “persistent” unless an additional ingredient is used to prolong antimicrobial activity. SHBAN is superior to alcohol gel hand sanitizers (without additives) because it’s FDA Class I “active ingredient” is “persistent” due to the fact SHBAN is long-lasting (up to 4 hours according to laboratory tests). SHBAN is a green product made in the USA. Independent clinical tests have shown SHBAN’s active ingredient inhibits the Norovirus, Swine H1N1 Influenza A and Avian H5N1 Influenza A.

SHBAN is gentle on your hands. SHBAN can be used on a cotton swab in your nostrils (don’t try this with alcohol gels). Studies have shown that 80% of viruses are inhaled from droplets from a contagious persons cough or vomit. That’s why it is recommended if you cough while you are contagious, use a disposable tissue.

SHBAN is economical. One (1) ounce of SHBAN is equal to six (6) ounces of alcohol gel. SHBAN is available online: www.shban.com . Free shipping is available in the continental USA on quantities of 3 bottles or more in purchased online through February, 2013.

The US market demand for Hand Sanitizers is increasing for non-alcoholic products, according to a GIA Research Report. “Private label brands continue to dominate the US market. The US Hand Sanitizer sales are projected to reach US$226.3 million by 2018. Abundant resources and improving knowledge on Hand Care are presently driving the market for new found Hand Sanitizers."

BioTech Medics Inc has signed a $5 million U.S. cross-marketing licensing non-exclusive contract for its patented SHBAN Alcohol Free Persistent Hand & Body Sanitizer with LifeBionix, Inc.  The agreement includes cash, dividends and ongoing royalties payable to BioTech over a five year term projected to commence the second quarter in 2013. LifeBionix has funding pending through an Irish SPV private investment fund.

The FDA has not evaluated the SHBAN statements above. SHBAN is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any disease.
